Last month I went and gave blood for my second time. After I donated I was feeling a bit peckish, and their free buscuits wasn't forfilling my hunger!

I decieded to fill in a feedback form requesting for a cooked meal for after you've donated, A nice roast turkey maybe? (More people may even donate if they know there's a hot meal in it for them.)

I wasn't expecting a reply, but today I received an email from one of their staff in regards to my comment form.

Dear Mr Strawson

Thank you for taking the time to complete one of our leaflets with your suggestion to provide hot meals after donating.

Unfortunately, although this would be a brilliant idea, we do not have the funds to provide such a service. The refreshments we do provide are to ensure that donors replace some lost fluid and to rest themselves before leaving the session.

I would like to thank you for your kind comments for the team, which I have passed on to them. May I also take this opportunity to thank you for the two life saving donations you have made. Your kind and generous support to our vital service is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you again after the 12th August when you are next eligible to donate.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Pearce

This email made me Smile! It was nice that they actually take the time to read the comment forms and respond personally, even though I won't be getting my turkey in the near future, it's nice knowing that when you donate, they are still willing to be nice and helpful, and not just run of with my blood untill my next donation.

What also made me smile was that they take the time to research your file, to thank you for the amount of times you have donated, and even look into when i'm able to donate again next!

I thought I would share this, mainly to make people more aware of how nice it is to donate, it takes 10min, the needle isn't too bad, but it's really worth it, you feel good about yourself afterwards.

So if you haven't donated yet, find when your next session is and go along, and maybe if a few of you also fill in comment forms requesting some turkey, it might actually happen ;)

Cheeky but amusing!

Welcome and indeed well done for giving blood.

Can't quite manage a roast turkey dinner but have a +1 instead.

Anyone that wishes to know more about giving blood should head right over to http://www.blood.co.uk/ .
